I'm curious to hear what everyone thinks about the symphony i/o using the thunder-bridge and the new mac pro when it comes out? That's what we will be running with our TAC Matchless. Is there anything we should be consider with this set up for tracking using protools? Will anyone else be looking to go this route?

I'd definitely be interested in running interfaces on the new mac pro over thunderbolt.
Not sure how much the new MP will cost and the different configs but.

I think it would be best to hold off until they've been released and wait for companies to say they are supported.

I'd like a new black mac pro, HD Native Thunderbolt, and a 16x16. Would be a great rig I'd say.

Also you may want to think about external TB storage, not sure how many drives the new mac pro will have.

I know they are PCIe flash which is faster than SSD.

The Lacie little big drive would be good, external SSD over thunderbolt, just daisy chain it if needed!

Coincidentally I was reading a bit about the new MP the other day - nice vid on the apple site showing the construction of triangulated boards inside the cylinder.... one of them is the next computer on my list but probably not for 12 months when they drop in price a bit - and as I'm already using firewire over thunderbolt for mixer and USB3 for MIDI it's the logical progression (and I can eke another year of value out of my MBP in the meantime).

FWIW my 2013 iMac + Symphony 8x8 + Logic setup just screams, and that's just with USB.

I'll probably go up to 16 inputs and the TB adaptor soonish, but I'm a very happy camper now.

That new Mac Pro looks pretty dam good!

I think it'd be a nice setup, but at $995 just for the adapter, as long as you're not in a rush I'd personally be waiting for news of Apogee releasing a specific Thunderbolt Chassis for the Symphony IO modules.
