I managed to score a Bruel and Kjaer 2209 SPL Meter recently and it's really cool. There was battery acid all through the compartment which eroded the part that holds the springs down so my smart friend suggested we cut a piece of plastic in the same shape from a guitar scratch plate and screw the springs onto that to fix it. Now its clean and working perfectly. It even came with the Instruction and Service manuals!

Very cool.
Always wondered if some spl meters have line outs (or easily mod them) so you could actually record the sound off the inboard mic. Good quality ones would be clear as day I reckon.
cheers

Yeah it' has the cable to record with so that's a bonus. I will test that one day.
