Today I discovered a new instrument; The Clothesline Wind Flute.

Today was a very windy day in Yenda, NSW. Just minutes after my new Zoom H6 audio recorder arrived, I could hear this strange melody from outside. I went to investigate and found a frame for a clothesline, unstrung , resting on the ground and leaning against the house. As the clothesline was just a frame, The wind was blowing through the holes and making different notes. This recording is untouched/unprocessed.

Found Compositions in a Yenda Vineyard.

Awesome Vic. Sounds kind of Eastern influenced.
Our studio has a bigish carparck with louvres all around it and when the wind blows we get something along those lines but it sounds more like when a cellist bows the strings and moves up and down the harmonics. I have a recording I made on a dat somewhere.
On the other end of found sounds, my brother has a fan in his PC and when you do heavy processing it starts to whine and sounds like a bassoon playing in a minor harmonic scale.
There's so much 'natural' music out there. Sometimes my wife thinks I'm a little off centre when I hear it.

Technical term for these sounds is thrumming. I once had a tv antenna that made beautiful music when the wind was coming from the right direction.

.....thrumming?......there are some interesting sounds at the lower end of the scale that come from that small room off the hallway when the wind comes from the wrong direction.......don't want to get the mic too close though! :ar!
