Hi guys, anyone shed some light on PTM electronics gear? I picked up a vca comp of theirs cheap, goes alright and not the horrible shitbox I was expecting (but also not crazy interesting either - just useful). I think they were an aus company. Anyone have any background on these guys?

So have used this for a while and, after figuring out the input gain was set internally, it's a pretty cool little unit. Great on kick drum, useful on bass and snare, surprisingly useful in stereo mode across a subgroup.
Difficult to make it break up but does a nice 'thickening'.
Anyway, point being if you see these things going cheap-ish (I got the unit for $50) they're probably worth a punt.

I actually have two eq units made by PTM. They were custom jobs I picked up on ebay, made for David and John studios back in the 80's and they are really useful. Baxandall high and low shelf, HPF and LPF and two fully parametric bands. I did manage to track down PTM in 2006 asking if they still had any spare parts or extra units. I had a brief conversation via email with them but it never went anywhere. By that stage they were PTMe and mainly did computer networking etc. I dont think the business still exists.
