Hey Guys - wondering if anyone knows if there is a piece of software that can do a quick fix of my problem.

Basically:

Vision package of a live show edited to the broadcast mix of the same show.
ProTools HD recorded 48 multitrack channels
48 tracks mixed down.

Just went to drop final audio mix files into my video program, had to manually sync the front end, and the mix begins to slip immediately.

I'm just wondering if their exists a magical program or plugin that can analyse the mixed audio, and push/pull it to match the live audio on the night...

It slips too quickly to try and resync on a song by song basis...

Sample rates appear to be correct.

there is an RTAS plug that does this for syncing live video (location speech) with ADR...

dont think that would work across a multitrack though...

smash - i know exactly the situation you are in...
and hard to fix if you didnt have timecode running when you recorded.

happy to help with some "fixes" over the phone if you want to call the studio in an hour or so.. but i dont think there is a magic solution for this one.

Could you not use beat detective or similar to sync the mix down with the live audio? I believe Vocalign (now called Re-Voice pro) only does short sections of audio.

More simply, manually line up the start point and then time stretch the entire mixed track so that the last snare hit lines up.

you really really need to sync things in the first place to get this stuff right though.

just one of the things that people dont understand why they are paying xxx$ for a live recording ("cant you just do it on a laptop") but when you need it all done well... and reliably...

Hey Guys - Thanks so much for the responses and please excuse my late responses- had a crazy week, and only sat down to look at the project today.

It ended up that it was slipping by a fixed amount, and because of the deadline / no budget etc etc, we ended up just stretched the job by the amount it had shrunk...

Did it in PT11, and tried out a few different algorithms, both me and the engineer were both agreed on what sounded best - can't remember the name, but it was the one that needs to be rendered - it doesn't work in real time, and after testing a small sample, we rendered the whole thing... it took 6 hours on a 12 core mac pro...

Anyway... comparing back to the live mix on the night, everything is now aligned to within a sample... so we're good.

Thanks for all your suggestions - I'll definitely use them for ADR type work - but this looked to be a consistent drift situation.
