Hey all,
Can you suggest a studio with a nice vitage console and cool vibe in melbourne? Needs a few ribbon mics, maybe a Rhodes and an upright piano, and tape. Just to track. Heavy jazz blues album. Doesn't need a ton of outboard, will track without comps ect.

you've got Atlantis and Soundpark. Soundpark doesn't have the vintage desk but loads of outboard stuff...

I have all that bar the tape.
3 piano's to choose from, two uprights and an 1880's grand. Big room, great mics.

Paul - where can I find info on your studio?

This band is a 4 piece, the tracking will be as few tracks as we can get away with.
If there are too many nice toys in the studio, I'll definitely waste a lot of time satisfying my curiosity!
Hence the simple requirements. A nice room, a musical/soft/warm sounding console (not ssl ect) work within the limitations and perform.

I really need to update those sites!
The main console is a D&R Octagon, which sounds amazingly true and huge. Not a shred of harshness, or vagueness. My favourite input path now.
The sidecar is a Chilton QM3, super warm and soft sounding.
We do have an Otari MX70 16 track 1' tape machine, that doesn't see much use, but sounds ok.
Monitoring is Altec/ GPA 604's, Auratones and KRK.
