Hi All,

I just felt like sharing the first ever diffusor that I have built. Still 3 to go, but happy to have one made. Also put in the final piece of glass in our studio today too.

Awesome! I have toyed with the idea of making something like that but mine would look a lot less precise.
Something along the lines of cut with a bread knife.
What are the curved white things in the rear control room corners Vic? Are they slot resonators or bass traps?
How did you stick the blocks on the diffusors down?

hahaha, there are 523 blocks in this one, and I have four of them to do.

Someone cut all the block for me (over 2000 in total) in thickness ranging from 1mm to something like 240mm.

It took them two days to cut and label then all.

Then it took me about 4 hours to spread them out in order on trestle tables.

About 6 hours to assemble and glue this one !!!!!

The blocks are just stuck down with PVA glue, on the bottom and all sides, glued to the block next door to it as well.

I have just checked them this morning, they are super solid, and quite heavy.

Have attached a picture of over 2000 blocks laid out ready.

And yeah, in the control those are curved bass traps that you can see in the distance.

I wonder if you could make diffusors like this with a 3d printer?

For about 250 bucks each

But jeez i admire the effort

Now, I just need a drill bit that's about 25cm long !!!

Well, I certainly slowed down on that third one !!!!!!!!

Three done.

Have finished one wall of these.

However, due to a change of plans I may have made 2 spare. So, If anyone is interested it looks like I will shortly have two handmade PRD 523 Diffusors for sale (I made 4 in total)

I can sympathise with you in regards to how time consuming they are to construct, having been thru the process.

If I were you I'd keep them, put them on a stand so you can move them around the room... build a gobo, one side absorptive the other side diffuse.

You never know you might get a string quartet in one day and need a little more ambience in the room.

Remember... it's much easier to "deaden" a room than "liven" it up.

Firstly, fantastic work on those diffusors,

And that's a great idea, the thought has crossed my mind occasionally to build some baffles etc. And what a perfect use of left over material. I have sound insulation left, I have 4 heavy duty castors and I have 2 x diffusors lets, sounds like a perfect idea
