I am the same age and was kicking around bands in Adelaide at the same time. Brings one's own mortality into clear focus.

The first band I ever saw, Doc fronting the Keystone Angels at the Woodville Town Hall in 1975, this idiot sticks his head in the W bins, wanted to feel the music, ears have been ringing ever since. Cheers Doc

I grew up listening to the angels first song i learnt to play after smoke on the water was after the rain
, if only i could go back to year 7 and tell young Ricky Oneil , its ok you will meet that man work with him
he will always have a smile and a quip for you , Your name will be on his highest selling records ..
Certainly does bring mortality to focus

I think we all grew up listening to The Angels. I played in an Angels Tribute show called No Exit for years. I loved playing their songs.

Sad to hear about Doc.R.I.P
I played my second ever pub gig supporting the Angels..Granada Tavern , Hobart 10/7/80 !
( yeah...I was a late music starter...I was 22 !)

My memories of that gig was that I set my Rhodes (suitcase) in front of the double Marshall stacks on stage right..the hiss from the Marshall's was so loud that I couldn't hear my own playing !!
A memory I'll never forget !
Later on in life I ended up having the same management as the Angels and I remember a great gig playing support to them at Myer Music Bowl and a few others too.Doc was such a larger than life character.
It seems all so long ago !
