Can anyone recommend a good Publishing Company. I have a client in Sydney who writes and records great pop songs and wants to make a living selling them? Anyone been down this road?

Maybe send your friend to www.taxi.com.

I have friends who are signed to BMG and EMI publishing, for them it came with a record deal first as an artist. Not sure how you would go about getting just a publishing deal.
