Anyone have trouble with these
I cannot get the Lynx to input digital
here is my chain
apogee psx 100
optical out to Lynx in
Lynx USB to mac protools
Mac Protools USB to Lynx
Lynx optical out to PSX 100
I can get audio out of the computer but not in to it.
5 hours later both manuals read and very frustrated!
And yes before anyone asks I like the sound of the apogee better, and the soft limit is cool on certain things!

Have not used the hilo but lynx gear can be a little fiddly and particular in my experience.
I'm going to start with the obvious things to check, just so they're covered off and hopefully to help diagnose the problem.
The manual says the optical in can be switched via software between adat and spdif. Have you checked this is set correctly?
Is the digital in source set correctly (to spdif optical)?
Have you checked the all i/o meters to see if you're getting signal on the digital in?
Have you checked the output mix routing page to make sure that the digital in is routed to the correct usb record channels and that nothing is solo'd or muted?
If all of this is working then the signal is coming into the hilo and going out down the USB so the problem may be routing at the computer end or a driver / hardware issue.

Thanks Dave
Hmm went through all steps from scratch again no luck.
took the PSX 100 out of the chain as I have to get work done
boy the DAs on the Apogee sound fuller than the Hilo even though its an old unit
Hilo sounds more hollow, clear but hollow.

Ok - where did it break down?
What happened when you looked at the meters?
Are you sure that the apogee and lynx are both correctly set to spdif optical? Have you tried setting both to adat optical?

Also, have you tried aes rather than optical?

hey mate ive got the PSX but not the hylo
sounds like the PXS is where its falling over though....
are you in the correct mode (confidence, analogue monitor or digital copy)
are your units clocked correctly (and locking to that clock)
output of the apogee will mute if its not seeing the clock that it thinks it should be.
sampling freq same thing (apogee will mute if you are asking it to do something it cant by being set to the wrong fs)
echo the question about "optical out" setting on the apogee - can be set to spdif or adat - have you got the correct selection?
try that stuff first and hit me back if you need. i know the PSX unit well.
