FS: Fireface 800 + associated stuff

Postby do-ob » Fri Aug 06, 2010 2:09 pm

Hallo,

I have for sale a minimally used mint FIreface 800, PLUS a really thick belkin firewire 800 cable (not 400) and a pci-e fw800 card, power cable, and the original box (minus the original foam, seem to have lost that) and manual. The setup works flawlessly - has NEVER crashed, and in this world of M$ junk it never ceases to amaze me. Recently got an aurora so sadly I can't afford to keep both.

Looking for $1750 for it, but coincidentally if you have any DB25 to XLR snakes I'd be happy to lop off some.
Prefer dealing in person in Melb, but can post it. COD, paypal (send it personal and you pay the fee :P) or bank deposit.

Cheers!

You do realise that they are $2199 brand new from factory sound?

Nice kit though

Yes that's fair enough...but it retails at $3.2k. We all buy our gear at different times, and to get it new from the US (which we all recognize as universally cheaper) is a bit more. 15% extra, plus exchange rate actually. Hell if I were to get it new $300 is worth a warranty, but how long will it stay at $2100 at FS? In any case, used they go for close to $1700 on ebay AU, but now that you've posted, I suppose I just need to say that I would like to get back $1600 on it. There, that's even beating an ebay price, with bonus stuff!

Guys, thanks for the input, however I would appreciate in future if you are simply annoyed that someone is wanting more for a sale than you managed to sell yours for in the past, that you keep it to yourself. That's fine if you were able to offer it at that price, but I'm not. I completely understand how you feel. However, I don't use this forum to end up being hijacked and criticized. If it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell... so be it. There are other places to sell, and I'm sure everyone who browses this forum also realises there are other places to buy. I already stated my bottom line price, and I do believe it is not altogether unreasonable. It is mint after all, and comes with some hard to find extras.

Cheers, and thanks for looking.

Hi Thaddeus, hope you don't take this the wrong way but i think you do not completely understand how we feel.To my mind, the thread was not hijacked and you were not criticized. This is a small well established community here and if i can speak for others here we usually tell it how it is. If anyone thinks a bit of kit is offered for sale at a price that is too high i think we have the right to say so and if you are offended by that too bad. You have the right to ask what you want but you are negotiating your entry into a community here so i for one feel a bit miffed by you posting the above. I think it a bit of a strech for you to tell an established member to in effect "keep his opinions to himself"! Speaking for myself i will not be "keeping it to myself" if i want to say something relevant to other members of the forum as long as there is no undue agro or offensive crap.

Factory sound have been selling them at that price now for nearly 2 years. I bought mine there 3 years ago for $2400. Tis the street price.

Anyway good luck with it.

And while you are telling people how we should behave maybe you should look at the rules of this forum and place your name in the signature.
We all like to know who is who here.

Yes I'm terribly sorry if that was taken the wrong way. It's just that I'm so used to comments like that on other forums and they are nearly always said with some kind of malicious intent, so I feel I have to defend myself. Let me say for instance, if you were selling an item and I went into your thread and posted "oh by the way, I"m selling mine for half the price". If they weren't indeed intended then I do apologise.

And yes, I did post with my signature, Dale (see above), unfortunately the option doesn't always appear when posting from my phone.

Cheers... thank you for the warm welcome.

Hi Thaddeus

Sorry mate you got the wrong end of the stick. :-o
I was trying to help you gauge the market.
I sold very cheaply to someone who needed a break.
Retail pricing just does not reflect anything to do with reality, you have to lop 30% off that straight away, thus $2200-$2400 should be a starting point.
I bought it new for $1799 new 5yrs ago from a reputable dealer in oz, who I have been buying from for the last 15 years , so I passed on my good score to someone else.
That was when the dollar was 63c. How come they've gone up so much when the dollar has been well over 80c for the last few years and the Euro has been crushed?
They should be about $1400 by my reckoning.
This type of equipment should get cheaper the longer they r manufactured, so someone is having a lend.
I will agree with you 100% the Fireface is a good box, stable & functional.
Feel free to go and bagout my pricing, fell free anyone, malicious or not.
I'd rather a realistic picture of what I'll get for something.
No need to apologise.
And hopefully this doesnot become like other forums.
And you've been at the top of this forum all this time.

Peace
