Hi there good folks,

I'm about to embark on a Neumann U47 restoration with the help of Gunter and wanted to know on the off chance that someone on the forum may have some parts I'm in need of. It's a long shot I know, but worth asking.

Here is a list of what I'm looking for;

- Neumann NG power supply. Working or not working. Really just in need of the NG enclosure.

- Cable connector to NG supply or full cable with 6pin Neumann connectors for u47.

- VF-14 tube.

- U47 Shock mount.

Would love to hear from anyone who may have any of these.

Contact me here via PM or email me on ben at harvestrecordings dot com dot au
Warm regards
Ben

There's a guy "Rainton" on groupdiy in the process of manufacturing replica power supply cases. Check under the Microphone section of Groupdiy. You may have missed the boat on it, but might be worth asking.

Maybe Gunther has some Ef12's, I think he's used those in the past?

Gunter has a bunch of substitutes available in stock including the Grosser fet...
The mic currently has the RCA Nuvistor.
I'm probably better off keeping it as nuvistor if I can't find a nos vf-14 to convert to.
Hoping to find original parts where possible.
Thanks for the replies.

But then again..maybe I'm better to convert to the grosser fet so I can drop a vf-14 in should I come across one down the track. Hard to say. The tube conversion plus tube is not cheap so this will be the big decision.

I have the grosser tube replacement on Gunters recommendation and 2 original VF 14's that are stored away for now, I'm running the grosser and the MICS sound amazing all the same,
psychologically it's a bit upsetting to not have the vf14 running if I stop to Think about it,
But on the upside it means I can set up a U47 for vocals and it's ready to go rather than waiting for it warm up..
I would imagine with the dollar as poorly as it is, a tube could go from 2 to 4K plus and even then you couldn't be sure it'd be useable in a mic .. Many stories from Gunter about people getting ripped off buying VF14's ..

I have a couple of 2MΩ and 100K resistors if you are looking for parts, with better tolerances than the originals as well!

That's about as close as I'll ever get to a tube U47. Have you asked around the USA basketball or F1 community? They may have tired of their expensive toys by now.

Just curious, did you buy the U47 from Melbourne that was advertised on eBay about two weeks ago?
It was a Nuvistor version that was missing the power supply.
I was watching it but it disappeared.
It looked to me like it had been stored in a pretty damp environment.

Ben did ask me for all this u-47 stuff (which i have ) twice !
I said no to him twice , maybe i said no ..three times.

I would leave it as nuvister and enjoy it
And spend the next two years on german ebay looking for the right parts
They are around in ones and twos but you have to wait em out .
And brush up on your german the little phrase that says
I have a broken u-47 and i am looking for replacement parts do you have anything
Works wonders in german .

Hey I know a guy who might have some or all of these things here in Berlin. I will ask. By the way, have used the Grosser u47 remake a bunch of times and it sounded fantastic...

Good one Simon. Will Pm you.
The grosser fet is certainly getting a great wrap here and elsewhere (including Gunter).
