I have a lovely pair of KM88 and I think Gareth (gigpiglet) has one for sale. Can't compare it to the KM86 as I've never used one but similar era, similar functionality and similar size capsules though they are different caps. Wonderful mics though.

Re: wtb: Neumann KM86 (pair) +/or Old Varimu comp
I don’t know it was a random thought
One vu meter doesn’t calibrate properly and it’s been like that for ten years ( I just use it stereo )
But to be fair it needs a service for that and by the time it gets to and from rob that has to cost me up to $600
So what ever a fair price is minus $600 would be the price
I haven’t really followed them in years so I don’t know
Make me an offer I can’t understand and I would probably pull it out of the racks
Things are getting pretty thin in my wallet about now

I've got a pair of Federal AM864/U's but they weigh a ton and the shipping to Perth would probably kill the vibe.

Hi Mark,
I'd probably want to try selling them locally as a pair first rather than singles, it's not often you see two together and it would be a shame to break them up. Great over a stereo bus and just send a bunch of stuff to them.
Around $3750 for the pair. Wima caps, retubed about 10 years ago, threshold and ratio moved to the front panel.
PM me if you want more info, don't want to jump on Matt's thread too much..
Cheers
