A couple of very useful stereo comps here -

Joemeek C2 Opto - I have found this to be a little ripper of a comp, especially as a parallel compressor on a keyboard or guitar subgroup. Internally it's all M/S, so the stereo image is always tight. $200

Symetrix SX208 - Under-rated little guy... 2150/VCA style comp, use it where you'd use an SSL-style compressor - or not. $100

I've used both these guys on console mixes alongside some very expensive compressors and they were always useful. Power supplies included. $250 for both if you're fast - in Melbourne, happy to post.

The Meek C2 is a gentler compressor ideal for smoothing a stereo mix - I have one on my raw mix playback during remote recording, just to give a better idea what the final thing will sound like. Sounds quite different to the range of VCA compressors out there.
