Hi all,

am helping a friend look for an amp to go with a set of B&W DM101's he's just bought - on the off chance, does anyone have anything for sale that might be suitable? There's lots on ebay but just looking checking out all avenues.

i have a bryston 4b for sale for $2k
if he is in that league

sorry Rick - waay out of the ball park - he's got a budget of <$400 so I've been pointing him towards 1970s Rotels, Nikkos, Monarchs, Pioneers, Quads etc. (which all fit the bill).

Doesn't need scads of power (small room, low levels) but want to get something he's not going to grow out of in the immediate future.

my bryston is a bargain for somebody that needs it , its just a pretty, heavy expensive black box if you dont need it

If his requirements are around the 60 Watt mark, consider having a look at the JLM 60 Watt amp modules...............by my rough calculations, a pair with power supply, etc., would cost approx., $200 give or take.

Bryston's are top of the heap - good luck with the sale Rick, I'm sure it will make someone very happy. Ausrock - thanks for the tip re JLM amps - had been meaning to check out Joe's stuff.

these are only 25 W per channel, however options include buying two and running them in bridge mode for an 80W mono block or if you and we are really keen doing a custom version with more power available. However, remember that 25W in a small room with efficient speakers is pretty loud!
