For long term I will freight it to you. Also the more you hire the cheaper the rate gets.

Hiring now limited

Hi Guys
Just want to thank everyone who has hired gear from me in the past. Sadly I have limited my hiring out to preamps and compressors, no mics or Daw setups. Why? well it's just getting too hard, gear getting damaged, late payment, bullshit and the usual suspects.
It's a shame but I can no longer keep suppling great gear to idiots, I was going to write fuckin idiots but I know you are not allowed to write such profanities on this site.
But I do love the guys here at Turtle so the gear will be available to members only at good prices.

Thanks
nIC

At least I'm in good company, but it is a shame the bad ones spoil it for the rest.

Yeah I'm not hiring any gear anymore either after a couple of dodgy experiences and this was a high end studio. I get a call from big record company "can we hire your compressor"? "Yeah sure" I say, I drop it off and call a couple of days later to ask "do I invoice you again"? "Oh no" they say "some other producer was the real person hiring, you should call them".

Starting to think I need to take a cricket bat and a mate with me to pick it up, anyway I call the guy who has it, it was nowhere near the studio where it was dropped off. I said "are you paying"? "Ummmm gee oh ummmm well we don't really have a budget to hire any gear, but next week I'll hire it all week".

Yeah like hell you will I thought, so the bigger places can ruin it also. The guy who organised it and called me is the one I'm really pissed off with as he should know better being a big studio manager.

So now if anyone calls to hire my comp I'll say I want $1200 a day, if they still want it then that's no worries cause I want cash up front.

That should keep my gear from going anywhere.

Nothing like a solid piece of wood to make people see the error of their ways. Gray Nicholls, GM or Kookaburra are brands I recommend.

Yeah "Batter Up". I saw a xxx video that used the bat idea in quite a different way than you guys have suggested. Maybe it could work work for some of these guys.

I dont seem to have any problems with hiring my gear out (touchwood) as usually only deal with people I know.
Sorry to hear about your experiences.
After reading Ricks hiring article I became more selective on who I hired the gear to and so far so good after 2 years of doing it.
