Man I saw those over on GS. While it is amazing to see those vintage mics in pretty much mint condition I think it's a little sad they have been stowed away in boxes rather than making great music. It also a sham e that they will most likely go to a collector and remain hidden away instead of doing what they were made to do..

Yeah well that's only like $100,000 AUD. Any takers? Nice mics though.

Cmon nIC, just get 'em. Your the gear guy. I want to hire them off you for $50 a week each. I'll need 'em for about 2 weeks. At that rate you'll have them paid off in about 170 years.

;-p

I understand that prices of vintage gear are always going up, but really this is getting out of hand. They are microphones, and that's it.
Do you really think that the regular radio listener would notice the difference between a $100K mic compared to a $5K mic. I seriously doubt it.

That said, they are a great example of vintage microphones and I'm sure they sound amazing.

Thats my rant over..

I think there will come a time when the price of some vintage gear will actually drop back to a more realistic level. It's a fad and part of it is driven by those in the industry for a long time, finding ways to survive when they can't survive anymore on recording alone.

I've bought and sold a lot of vintage gear over the last few years and I've come to learn that
an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay...at the time its for sale.
