$700 reserve,going on ebay

i'm going to be a dad! so, as i can't see being able to justify maintenance on this 8track 1/2" deck, i'm giving turtle-necks first option.
let me know soon, or it'll be going on evilbay.
(and yes, if i sell this i'll have to replace my profile photo)

i'm looking for around $1,100, i think. that seems to be a fair price, given the unit comes ready to use, with tape, cables, manual etc. if you don't agree, then talk to me.
i'd be prepared to consider some kind of swap (mic preamps? eq's? cd burner?), so if you want to offer something like that, lets chat.

i reckon it is in great nick. it just hasn't had much use recently.
service history in the time i've had it :
all circuit boards rebuilt 4 years ago by zm electronics (ex. Teac Service Centre).
this unit has had 2 hours use since serviced at broadcast workshop 2 years ago. pinch rollers are in good condition. heads in good condition.

Ta@#$% 58 8-track recorder/reproducer, 1/2" tape, 10 1/2" hub reel size, 15 ips, unbalanced rca inputs. sync/input for smpte time code synchronizers or controllers, compatible with btx, video media, conversion, fernseh, audio kinetics, g.t.c., or similar synchronizers.
capstan cover plate broken off, but supplied.

includes :
operation/maintenance manual

3 x quantegy gp9 tape (used 2 times each, unspliced) in plastic tape-care boxes
2 x take-up reels (yeah, you never actually get take-up reels, do you? then you're stuck, with nothing to spool to. sucker!)
1 reel 1/2" leader tape,
1 box 1/2" splicing tape,
2 x 3meter 8way trs > rca cables
extra heavy-duty custom made rack ears (50x50 5mm angle iron)

a built-in auto locator function utilizes the digital tape counter and microprocessor to memorize a specific point on the tape. a single button commands a search (in either direction) for that cue. another button commands a search to counter zero.
speed is adjustable for gross corrections or fine tuning by means of a pitch control that has coarse (+-15%) and fine (+-0.7%) adjustments.

obviously, it's heavy and delicate. kind of like my wife at 8.5 months pregnant. i wouldn't want to ship her across the country. same with the tape deck.

anyway, if nothing else please tell me if i'm in the ball-park with my pricing . . .

I've seen this machine first hand and looks very clean. A worthy addition to any studio for sure.

thanks mat - nice to know you managed to drag your eyes away from the glass of home brew long enough to check out the equipment.

pick up is ok. i'll throw in a bottle of Spotswood Back Ale for your troubles.

and yeah, whilst the required OS is pretty lowly, at least it means a basic registration process.

i'll be really sad to see the unit go, but i just have to be realistic about what i'll be doing for the next while . . .
nappy engineer takes priority over recording engineer.

i'll give it a week here before i move on to other options. lock and load.

I used to be a stay at home Dad........ until we had kids, couldn't get out of the home and find a job fast enough!
