Gday folks

I just replaced (after a fashion) the sidechain filter board I had installed in my GSSL with a Turbo board, so I now have a fully built SC filter board sitting on my workbench with no home. So I thought I might see if anyone here might have a use for it.

Dunno if these PCB's are still being made - not that it would be difficult to build one on Veroboard, of course.

So yeah, it's a little unit with probably about $25 worth of bits in it. Not looking for any money, but more hoping to move it on to a new home if someone wants it. I'd be happy to trade it for something or other (not looking for anything particular, but there are a few tubes I do need, namely EL84 & 6V6GT) or just move it on to a good home, whatever suits.

EDIT - thanks to Steve, looks like I might be able to find a use for this fella after all!

If it's the Super Sidechain board I would be happy to buy it from you......

nah, it's not - it appears to be same the same insofar as the filter section is concerned, but it doesn't include the "Thrust" settings"

Why not leave it in and use a 4 pole toggle switch so that the filter board is still available when in GSSL mode, but is bypassed when in Turbo mode? That's what I did on the last one that I built as I only had 1 sidechain board.

Probably because no-one suggested a 4 pole ;)

I did originally go down that path, but using a DPDT toggle to route the sidechain input either to the sidechain filter board, or to the turbo board (via a pair of 47K resistors). It wasn't happy doing that, probably because the return points of each board are different.

If you have the time, would you care to explain how you wired yours up?

If you get a 4PDT switch from Jaycar there are enough poles that you can easily switch between the original 2 into 1 GSSL config, or 2 into 2 configuration when the switch is the other way. I would have to dig out the diagram as it was a year since I did it, but I remember that it was very straight-forward. From memory I think I moved the resistor onto the switch between 2 poles so that it was switched in and out.

Looks like this went from a "for sale" thread to a "DIY" thread!

That filter board is so useful that it would be a shame not to have it in there and be able to switch from GSSL to Turbo mode and still have the filter available at least in GSSL mode where it really needs it. Then you have 2 completely different flavours of compressor with the flick of a switch.
