Ok, so if anyone was watching last night, they would have witnessed my attempt to sell some mics. Should I or shouldn't I etc.... well it turns out I changed my mind.
However I need to sell something etc....

So I have decided to sell my prized packet of Iced Vovo biscuts. Recently looked over by a tech and i'm told they are in great shape. Very handy for.......eating or storing to
eventually eat. All original and also come with original case etc... $3000

I'll even throw in a set of Calrec 1347-2's. Two channels of vintage calrec console with a sweet micpre, 4 band eq and filters. Racked in a 2U case. Has phantom power, external power supply. Work and sound great
and will be missed. I'll get some pics up soon.

Personally I think the Calrec micpre's are in the 'also ran' category. Killer Neve style without the Neve price tag.
Altec, schmaltec. Keep the Calrec's and sell the coke bottles.

Ahh! Finally I get what everyone's been going on about, thought I had missed out on some great childhood memories. But no, I was thinking these were ice-creams or something, not biscuits. Everyone's grandma or aunt had some of these on visits at one time or another.

PS; Used to eat the marsmallow first and then the biscuit, anyone else or just me?

Are they real Iced Vo-Vo's or re-issues? Are they pre-takeover or original manufactured in North Strathfield?

Is the coconut desicated or natural? Has it been artificially enhanced? ;-}

How do they sound when you plug a U47 into them?

Are they all discrete and do they provide 2 or 3rd order iceomics?

Are you sure they are vintage? I'm sure the vintage ones used to have thicker marshmallow and looked a little more rugged. :)

Yeah, apparently you can't get the same quality marshmallow anymore, and that's where the magic of the originals lies...

the marshmallow may be important, but the jam is equally important... and the problem with these old iced vo-vos is unless they have been kept in proper humidity controlled conditions, the jam will dry out over all those years, making the vo-vos unusable.

Yes you could always get wes or thirteen to re-jam them, but modern jam is not the same either, and supplies of 1970 jam are very very rare, and hard to come by. Perhaps a discrete question to wes and thirteen about their original NOS 1970s jam stocks, and replacement costs would be advisable before making an investment in your studio like this. Better to know what you could be in for, than jumping in without thinking into what possibly could be a huge money sink.

I have heard that Gunter Wagner has a small supply of OEM jam.

Also, to get the terminology correct, the topping that philistines refer to as "marshmallow" is in fact a strawberry fondant.

Thanks thirteen, thats really good to know - because without the proper original jam, IMO, you may as well just be buying the manley vari-vo remake. I hear they have a large stock of 80s NOS jam that they use for their biscuits, and while it's still a bit better than anything you can get now, it's nothing like the original stuff. and combined with their modern mallow, you're really just as good having that, as an original vo-vo with old mallow, and modern jam. but for less money, and better reliability.

I've never tasted an iced Vovo and I think $3,000 is out of my budget.
Are there any Chinese import biscuits that do the same thing, for say around $300?

no, but waves do a virtual vo-vo - maybe you could go download the crack for it, and decide if its something you need?

Not a fan of Iced Vovos at all; never have been since I tried them 50 years ago. Real men eat Milk Coffee's after dunking them in black tea.

Bloody tasteless virtual Vo-vo's, that digital mallow is even thinner than the new analog vo-vo's. Yes and with the crack don't sprinkle too much on.

Dunno, but there's definitely something fishy about a cracked VoVo.
