Hey Everyone,
I know this is a major long shot, but if anyone happens to have available for sale a Master instruments AWA / Byer / Rola VU that matches either of these....can you pls PM me.
I am trying to make a matched pair for a build.
Thanks heaps,
Mac.

hey mac
i can dig some up , but my advice is not to bother
they are master instruments sydney meters and although they were great in their day , my experience is the ballastics of
the old rola meters is all over the shop
and the buggers tend to stick .
been there done that , wouldnt bother , just trying to help etc etc

Thanks Rob..........I think????....
Hey Rick, I think I would like to still take you up on that. I know I may regret this later, but I love the vintage look of these - and australiana to boot...
At the end of the day these are for my dual 1176 build - so I will be using my ears more than my eyes when using the unit anyway.
If you can send me some more detail of ones you have to sell, I would be grateful.
Mac.

Try Andrew Kay - he may still have a pair around that I was looking at using on my voodoo machines. Andrew also advised to avoid using them as they are very unreliable (and innacurate) at this stage of their lives. So we searched for other long lasting and much more accurate military ones.
Even the new replicas on the Retro Sta level are not very accurate and a touch slow - but an improvement on the old Gates ones.

Andrews email is
andrewkay@aapt.net.au
Good luck with the comp - let us all know when the birth happens.

Matt,
Virtual six pack for you my friend!!
I just won that one on ebay.....Thanks for the heads up!!!
Now my twin 5965 tube mic pre's that I am building will have a pretty pair of maroon VU's retrofitted with a pair of little 6v globes glowing in them...
My mantra for this year is for my DIY gear to look as good as it sounds.

Some of the other forums I frequent have a "Buy me a beer" icon which lets you send $5 to their paypal account.
Maybe something like that would be good around these parts?

No i think thats taking it too far. My comment was a joke and nothing more. More than happy to pass on a link to help someone get what they have been looking for.
