BJB recording studios have now got a small budget overdub/mix room, so now you guys have some where to go to get a great high end mix cheap.
I put my PTHD 3 system in there with a heap of high end plugins, a stereo AURORA AUDIO GTQ2 MKIII preamps and a pair of Crane Song Trakker compressors.
If the room takes off I will be loading it up with more goodies.
Give them a ring.

Off topic just a little, curious to hear what you personally think of the Aurora. I have the GTC2 which I use on a lot of stuff, even mix buss. Nice sound.



I don't know anyone using Aurora over here so curious to hear impressions.

Aurora has always been in my next purchase but something not quite as good but a lot cheaper comes along to distract me.

I know the feeling. It's taking a while but hopefully Aurora grows some legs in Australia, the gear is too good to be basically small fish.

Despite my praise, I'm deciding whether to sell my GTC2 at the moment. Two minds. As lovely as it is (and wow, it does sound great) I am finding more and more that with my work I'm calling up a lot of plug-in comps because recall is everything for me at the moment. It's a bit of a luxury to keep such a beauty on hand for groups and mix buss duties if I was honest.

I'll give you first dibs if you're at all interested! hmmm

You really should keep an analogue stereo pre with EQ and a stereo comp inserted on the mix buss or record back into Daw. It does wonders for the mix. That is the set-up at BJB small room.

Awave (the Oz distributor) have a really good relationship with Geoff, so both they and Geoff are really helpful with any questions. I've traded emails with Geoff personally, such a nice guy. What a clever man also, ex Neve guru!

As I've said, these days I am mainly reserving this for special mix buss duties and groups etc for that special sound as plugins although not even a patch on this, are convenient for recall. I would love for someone else to use this thing. I would keep it if it weren't for the fact that it would just be too luxurious to do so!

I reckon $3k for a dual high end comp is OK but people are looking for better deals for lack of $. I saw a pair of Distressors at a start bid of $3k that didn't go off.

No one pays full retail for audio gear and everyone does their research, like you.

Short of finding another used one for sale in Australia (that won't happen) you will have to either import one yourself or keep a watch for one second hand through gearslutz and the like. As far as I am aware mine is the only one still to have been sold by the distributor here, that was several months ago now and that could have changed. You won't find one for WAY under $3000 as you seem confident of, but if you do I'd sure love to hear about it ;)

At any rate, you will not find one CHEAP. Good luck in your search for that bargain.

I just dont think a large amount of people want to pay so much for a compressor.
I have always being eyeing off the Safe Sound Compressor since Andys Review in AT.

I actually prefer Talisker single malt for Scotch and Jamesons for Irish whiskey (my first preference)..
I've been to both distilleries too - tried their entire ranges..

Yes it is a good opportunity to get out of your home so you don't give the Mrs and the neighbors the shits. I think their doing the room for around $200 a day for the basic HD3 set-up.

So come on down to the new BJB mix room so you can have a day or a big week mixing in the new budget room on the PT HD3 rig. There is a shop next door for munchies, a pub down on the corner, a clinic doing methadone programs close by and the main Sydney Police Centre around the corner if you want to hand your self in for substance abuse.

For us "out of towners" how far away is Kings cross?

Nic, that's a great price. Is there any outboard gear included or is it purely ITB?

A room like that will pay for itself pretty quickly. I'd be surprised if it's not booked solid soon. Well done to BJB for recognising the need for a cost effective room.

PTHD 3 Accel with great pluggers
Pair of NS 10s but I may put my Events Studio Precision 8 in there if they don't sell
Mackie Big Knob
Pair of Crane Song Trakkers compressors
Pair of AURORA AUDIO GTQ2 MKIII pre/eq
My other stuff if required for extra
