hi guys
i found an SSL console at the ABC at auction on the weekend
it will be in my foyer early in the week
once we work out whats what it will be for sale , cheap and fast

it is an 50 frame 48 loaded 4000 E series (g update ) full computer patch bay producers desk etc
once we figure it all out we will set a price , but get your minds thinking early
spread the word do your sums

you dont find this kind of console locally untill after the deal is done and you have missed out
so if you ever really wanted one at a price you could afford and you have the space
start your drool buttons
could be the TRM five minute auction of the decade :)

oh gee, this really puts the whole im gonna buy a console thing into a light of its own.

even though i most definitely will NOT be bidding i am hanging out for the auction. someones gonna be a very happy camper.

on second thought i may just sell the rights to my soul for the folding paper for this one.

Me think SSL should be with me, and we can live happily ever after...........untill it needs to be fixed....then me sad.

Good find... but thinking about how much it would cost to keep the thing cool and operational.....nah.

Pity our dollar is doing so well against the US.... you'd have an easy sale o/s otherwise.

Nah wrong neve wrong dollars but I had to distract Dave so he didn't buy the calrac which was a beauty but again wrong dollars it had no patchbay or looms to anything so it was gonna be a basket case to wire

I feel like a mushroom. Got nowhere to stick a console that big anyway, but I'm sure there would have been plenty of other goodies up for grabs.

So did anyone walk away with the Calrec? Would loved to have seen it.
I heard about the Neve on the day and it got me interested. What was it loaded with Rick??

I heard that a certain religious group was also trying to "Shaker" off load an SSL G series console this year. They paid big bucks to get it and last I heard it was down to $75K but that was 4-6 months ago.
I wonder if that sold and what for and who got it?

this one will be a new commodore cheaper then that :)

I saw an ex-ABC SSL E/G 4000 sell last year for around 30 grand. It had producers desk and full patchbay as well. Is this closer to the price tag? :)
ABC usually maintain there equipment well. Probably needs a recap? or not? Any idea on it's overall condition yet?

last years abc console sold on ebay for $40,000
so thats in the ballpark depending on whats what

Dale, if you're referring to the SSL used by Planet Shakers in Melbourne, it is privately owned. Not owned by any church or group. It's a commercial, working studio and too my knowledge, very busy atm.

It must have been sold or withdrawn from sale then as our church pasted on the offer at the time.

it went for 16500 which was getting a bit to close to wholesale for my like
the modules are nothing to sneeze at but 3114 would have added 10 k to the console sale price

Yeah, doing good so far. Had 2 rounds of chemo, 4 to go, every two weeks. First week is pretty much a write off, all I do is sleep but the second week I can do stuff. Even got a gig this week which is nice. Great crew who will do all the work and I just supervise. Hoping to be sitting on your couch before Christmas with that album finally finished too.

It's early days but blood tests are coming back positive so far, my body appears to be responding and strangely enough my white blood cell count is still ok, (it usually gets wiped out in chemo) which means my body is fighting too. The support from people has been overwhelming. It's pretty humbling.

Forgive my ignorance on this one but i'm really interested two know what the difference is between the two modules. I figure there must be a significant performance or aural benefit between the two so im wondering is it the build quality <one thinks all neve is good so it couldnt be that> or the components?

this one will produce a collective groan i'm sure but as there is only one digit difference in the module make number then why would the latter be better than the former? I mean usually in manufacturing the newer model is better<not always necessarily i know> so yeh i'm intrigued.

just to add my two cents on the purchase, if i miraculously came by the cash to get this console i would never be sleeping in the same bed as my missus again, in fact i would have to sleep under the console for quite a long time. Sounds ok but i like my snuggles awwww

And before i forget my empathy i wish you all the best Kris, i had been dealing with a family members diagnosis with quite severe osteo-sarcoma for the last 6 months and i really feel for you and your family, a positive mind and the will to live does make a difference. Again from one stranger to another, all the best.

33114 has switched top end (10K,12K, maybe 16K I think can't remember) and high and lo pass filters
33115 has fixed top end at 10K (?) and only high pass filter.
I would have maybe bought that sidecar at 16.5 K, there was a similar one with unloaded channel Mixmasters were asking the same price for a while back.

yeh i had a sneaking suspicion it had to do with the eq, it seems that that is the only thing that varies on all different models of any console/desk.

and while im being extremely noob, what or why do you refer to it as a sidecar?

A sidecar is like a smaller console, usually 8 or 12 channels. They usually sit at the side of the main console, so I guess that's where the motorbike term came from. They are really handy say if you have an SSL and want some Neve channels for tracking or mixing. Sometimes they have master sections and can act as stand alone mixers, but there is also a trend of selling a group of 8 (called a bucket) from a console like an SSL that has been broken up without a master section.
Small ones like the one in the pic are great because you can throw them in the back of a hatchback and go record drums in a hall or cabin somewhere.
