FS: Calrec PQ1253 module pair

2 x Calrec PQ 1253 pre/eq modules. Untested but should be working fine. I spoke to Rob Squire about these and he said they should be easy to rack.

$650 plus shipping.

Hey Heath,

Are the units complete and ready to rack or do they need extra bits? The reason I ask is I vaguely remember a post about you buying these and there being some discussion over output cards with Myles??

I'm pretty sure all they need is a simple output amp which when I asked Rob if he could do it he said "it should'nt be a problem". Supposedly just a transformer will work but not properly. With all the stuff Rob has done in the past I don't think these will be a prob.

Some other Calrec cards have the eq curcuit board on a different card so that is 3 cards for the actual module.

These ones have 2 cards, 1 is the amp card with 2 input trannies and the other is the eq card. All that's needed is the output amp during racking.

The 3 PQ modules noted in the heading are all from the M-Series of Calrec consoles. The PQ1253 only has a mic input stage. The other two have mic and line input stages. Module construction is on 2 PCBs; the smaller right-hand card contains the mic and line input stages, gain switching and source selection. The larger left-hand card has the input level trim, filters and EQ circuits. External connections are via DIN41612 connectors. Only the A-row of each connector is populated. "

Hi Heath, I'm interested to know what you think of the Pre/EQ and any description of it's tone or Mojo, also in your discussion with Rob did He mention an approximate cost to building the final stage output amps and racking the modules up? Cheers Jono

Hi Jono, I hav'nt had these racked so know nothing about them, Rob could'nt give me an estimate either as it would be very difficult to do when racking vintage units. Others may be able to chime in with opinions of sound quality.

But in saying this a racked pair of these for resale would maybe get between say $2000- $2500 roughly. So even if they cost a grand to rack they will hold thier value.
