NYMo, what are your unbiased thoughts on the voyager? (now that it's sold!)

Hi there,
Well...I owned a model D that I bought in the 70's...so....
(I sold that to Garth Porter in 2003 for my Synthesizers.com modular)
The Voyager doesn't sound at all like my model D (as i remember).
Model D +
Great sound (fat and ballsy)
Waveforms sounded better to my ears(I liked the triangle a lot)
great filter
value will only go up !
model d -
Tuning always a problem (even though I had a *cooker* installed)
scaling hard to control etc
voyager +
great playing keyboard (I mean REALLY smooth)
and loved the aftertouch
great build quality
the thing just looked GREAT !
all the new features are great...
dual filters
touchscreen
midi
patches etc
voyager -
sound more round and buttery ...model d could shake the walls.
waveforms sound different to my ears
value will only go down !
Overall I would say as an instrument , the Voyager really has it going on !
Its features, playability, look and build quality (and expansion stuff) really make it a great buy.
If you are looking for a ball tearing bass thang, the model d has that in spades
but maybe music production has changed and something like the model d now sticks too far out in a mix ?
I was really happy with my Voyager...but it was the only thing I had to sell (other than my fairlight)
The fairlight is hard to get(and i luv them :)...but I can always buy a Voyager again in the future.
And there's the rub....if i had a choice (for the money) to buy a model D or a voyager again..i would most probably take the Voyager...it is a QUALITY instrument.
Hope thats confused you all ;-)
Cheers

ball tearing bass is pure awesome....in electronic music anyway...i cant remember the last time i heard real bass in popular music other than hiphop :P
