$7k for a base 8 core? Not likely. If you were quoted $7k then you're being ripped off big time.

The base 8 core on apple.com.au is $4,799... and you can expect that to drop if they release the alleged 12 core.

I just ordered a new machine for a tv show... 8 core with 8gb ram, 1tb system drive with apple care and it retailed for $5,600. Not what I paid of course thanks to being an Apple business partner, but that was the list price. Don't ever buy more than necessary ram or hard drives from Apple as they're overpriced and can be found cheaper at many other places.

Ditto. I paid almost $8k for mine also, optioned-up and including cinema display about 9 months ago.

I think the asking price here is very reasonable considering what it is loaded with plus the extras, HD's etc. Good luck.

You said without screens.

btw... you can get 2 x 24" Dell/Samsung/HP etc monitors for the same price as one of the Apple monitors.

Is it possible to transfer the licenses for all those plug-ins?
For that kind of money you wouldn't want to be stuck with an unsupported product.
