Just so you know if you don't already.
These dont have alps fades, they have their own design which is really easy to clean and are pretty large modules. They have transformer inputs as you know but are not the discrete input like the pm1000 though they do feature discrete opamps in the master section. The eq is a kind of inductor based system, it uses gyrators which are supposed to mimc inductors but were a lot cheaper. Every XLR output on the back is feed from a tamura output transformer. If there is an output that is feed by jack it may be balanced but its not transformer balanced. I think that the patch out points are unbalanced but they should drive a 10k load but might drive a 600ohm load (cant remember) this means you can add a transformer here to make it balanced out but you need to change the plug as its a switching one and will remove the signal from the channel after that point (like a standard insert). What you can do though is send the output to the recorder and return the playback on the patch input and then it kind of operate like an in-line console. I do have a few parts for this desk somewhere in a box.
I guess it all depends on what you use it for. I think your 450 offer is a decent one. These things need heavy cleaning and whilst they sound pretty good over the usual budget stuff, they are heavy and cumbersome, can be a little on the noisy side and I wouldn't be using for quiet acoustic stuff, jazz or classical of course. Rock, indie, dance etc could be very cool. Ripe for modding in lots of different ways though. At 450 I would be considering it if it was closer to me and I had my space set up and needed an interim console.
