WTB mid 80's PAF pickups or similar

Yo, I have an 87 Les Paul Custom, but it didn't have original pickups in it when I bought it. Just throwin it out there, if anyone has any mid 80s PAF or maybe 498 or 490 pickups in a back drawer somewhere let me know and we can talk turkey.

A mate of mine bought some Lolar pickups for his strat that he is majorly impressed with. If you are looking for tone rather than period correctness it may be worth checking them out. They seem to have a fairly wide range of humbuckers too. He actually rang them, and they talked him thru the pickup selection. Lindy Fralin's pickups also seem to get a good wrap.

Micks pick ups are great. You can't go wrong, and yeah well priced. I should get my Jazzmaster some.

I recently put a pair of Throbak SLE Limited plus http://www.gundrymedia.typepad.com/ in my standard and am really enjoying them. A vast improvement over the new Burstbuckers. They are closer to the original 50's PAF's if your chasing that soud. Thye are not as hot as the 490's.

I'd say they are the best sounding PAF's I've played. YMMV.

I bought some PRS pickups cause one of mine was not working, When I was replacing them I found out it was just the soldering had come off one of the wires so I resoldered it and did not bother putting the new ones on. So if you after some genuine PRS pickups I could help out there.

Thanks Dale, I'm going to try hunting around for some originals or something close to for a while and see. I might just chuck a Brierly in the bridge while I wait.
Pete those Throbaks look interesting, although the top end ones are in similar territory pricewise to some Shaw pafs I've seen..
