hey guys,
does anyone know of a rack mountable HD recorder similar to the HD24 that s perhaps just less tracks? and thus a little smaller/cheaper?

The laptop is too tempremental live so we're looking for alternatives for our backing tracks and triggering system.

which brings me to my 2nd question as to whether anyone has a Alesis DM pro before I head to ebay? Is there a better alternative to this unit so I can load my drum samples up and use them live?

What is your current laptop/software solution? It would seem that in this day and age you should be able to get a pretty reliable solution running on a laptop.

The earlier Fostex "D" series recorders may suit your needs. The D80, D90, D108 and D160 were all 16bit, that said, I've NEVER had anyone complain about the sound from my D160. The D824, D1624 and D2424 are obviously 24bit units. They all appear on eBay occassionally.

The original D2424 only has 8 analogue inputs (24 ADAT) The later D2424LV has 24 analogue in..

Mackie MDR and HDR 24 tracks 24 bit 41, 48 and 96K (12 tracks) analogue inputs and you can buy them cheap as they have been discontinued. Rock solid and easy to use.
