Neumann KM series [WANTED / FOR SALE!]

Postby EvLoutonian » Tue Jun 29, 2010 9:09 pm

Hi folks.

Primarily, I'm after a KK85 type capsule - or, failing that, one of the other capsules compatible with this series of small condenser Neumann mic's -> either KK83, KK84, or KK85, would be the exhaustive list, I think. (?)

If anyone has one spare (working, or in need of servicing), or has any good leads on where to get one please let me know! I'd be very grateful!

A capsule in used working condition would be ideal - the body I have is early 70's - and I have another complete KM85 to go with it - so something from the same era would have the best possibility of matching to the other complete one (or at least I would think so). If I cannot source a KK85 capsule, then one of the other types would be OK and provide another pattern option to my kit.
- It seems like a real shame to have this body sitting around with no capsule to go with it!

Alternatively, what I have is a KM85 body only (in need of service / attention + a suitable capsule to go with it)
as well as one complete KM85 (just serviced by Gunter Wagner in Sydney) which I'd be open to offers on, either separately, or together.

There may be a matched pair up for sale soon, too - also just serviced and matched by Gunter.

NOTE: the three complete mic's are all a pretty good match for using together, apparently.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows about mic configurations / techniques for triple mic'ing! ??

Cheers,
Evan (MELBOURNE)

PS. If anyone is interested in AMPEX MM1100 2" recorders, I've been meaning to post something of interest about a machine I've been helping a friend to bring back to life. (when I say "help", I mean mostly cheer from the sidelines and poke and encourage).
I believe this machine was from the ABC, and contains an unusual DOLBY board added to the circuit.
Seems to be an in-house addition. Was causing issues in the machine, so we removed it, but maybe someone here is (more) familiar with these old machines?
Cheers (hi-jacking my own thread)

Shall post pic's with a new thread on that at some stage.
