The Drip 175 is an exact recreation of the Urei/Universal Audio 175b vari-MU limiter. Drip Electronics offers a PCB and support for this project. Since the 175 shares the same vari-MU compression style as the Fairchild 660/670, Drip has also developed an add-on which allows the 175 to emulate the Fairchild time constants.
new version is using generation 5 drip design and is faithful to the original UA175b schematic circa 1965, and will surpass the circuit performance of the original design with ease. The drip 175 works in unison with tthe sowter line of transformers including the sowter 175 interstage transformer.All audio transformers mount on the pcb , insuring a direct signal path .
A major drip innovation in design is coating the copper circuit with a mirror image of silkscreen, this feat in design not only isolates each track, but can be compared to insulated point to point wiring .
