Cancelled: Hiring Hi end vocal mic

No longer needed, see below. Huge thanks to all who offered anyway.

Hi all, we find ourselves with immediate work to do and an unfinished/incomplete studio (in Sydney). We have not yet acquired any proper high-end mics (we're getting a Bees Neez Tribute soon, but just not soon enough). Our best mics are all just too middle-of-the-road (eg. Rode Classic II, GT40).

So we're looking to hire a decent vocal mic, Neumann U47, etc. Hire period is eight weeks, starting Nov 13 through Jan 8, with the option of extending up to 2 more weeks. We'll take full liability, naturally, plus provide any and all references, verifications, CC guarantees, etc you may require. All pickup/return must be by hand (either we come to you or you come to us, but no shipping). Hence you need to be in Sydney.

If you're interested, let me know what you have to offer and what your weekly rate would be. We'll pay 8 weeks in advance, and the remaining 2 weeks when we know if we'll need it or not.

Angus

Thanks, but I just don't want to undergo the stress I will feel by having good quality mics in the hands of shippers. I want to collect/return the mic from/to the hands of the owner.

Regardless of the money, there's still a strong element of trust involved in a deal like this. Hence I don't want any third parties involved for any reason - they may not be as motivated as I am to take meticulous care of the mic.

I understand/appreciate that - but seriously, it would stress me out WAY too much. I'd be a wreck until I knew it was back safe, and that would be a couple of days.

If I was renting from a business that would be one thing, but because I am renting from a colleague/peer, I'd feel a MUCH greater sense of personal responsibility.

Anyway it may all come to naught, because the cash to buy the Tribute may be coming through much earlier than expected.

Yeah, Turra have one in stock, so that's not an issue. If things go well (re some other stuff going on) then I'll have the cash by Monday, in which case I won't need to hire.

We shall see - by the way a public thank you to everyone who PM'd me. Good folks around here.

Hi all - massive, massive thanks to everyone who offered to help out.

A client who owed me money from early this year (who I had given up on frankly) has magically come good, and now I have the cash to buy the Bees Neez Tribute after all. So I won't be needing to hire a mic.

Again many, many thanks for all the offers - they are really appreciated.

Best thing I've ever heard. Better than all our other mics by a huge margin.

I've never had access to a real Telefunken U47, so if it is any better than the Tribute it must be amazing.
