Hi, I'm gauging interest in trading my A440 AEA ribbon mic. Only 12 months old with very little use due to delays in acquiring suitable studio space over the last year. I estimate its value to be around the 5k mark.

Needless to say its an amazing mic but you need a well-treated room because of its naturally faithful character, figure 8 polar pattern, and stunning sensitivity. Incredible on acoustic sources and of course a preeminent distant mic.

Although sonically its phenomenal, its powerful proximity effect makes it challenging to tame in my dimensionally-challenged non-treated environment. A decent space is at least 12-24 months away (I don't record/engineer for a living) and I'm wanting to get some of my own material recorded at home in that time so thought I'd put it out there.

Below is a bunch of gear on my current wish list in case there's anyone out there who would like to discuss a trade of some description.

AEA R44
pair schoeps CMC6 with subcardioid caps (or omnis)
Neumann (anything vintage)
clean pre (NPNG/Forssell/M-1/Gordon etc)
I'm also interested in non-flavoured comps at the moment (NTP179-160/Trakker)

Thanks
James Hanly
