I could have been tripping for a second, but I swear that someone had a pair on here for $600 a few weeks ago..

That ($600) is too silly; I managed to sell a pair recently for $1300 but it's becoming more and more a buyer's market for sure with more to choose from than when they were first released.
They are a good monitor for tracking in a larger project/ smaller commercial environment IME ; they can handle bass and kick with a fair amount of authority.
