hey gareth , i just remembered i made a rule up once about only posting on your own stuff on ebay on the forum .. then i remembered i have broken that rule myself enough times to not remind you or anybody else of the rules
but the point of it was so we dont flood ourselves with stuff we cannot afford or have little interest in
I like those octavia mics too
i had a couple of sets once
must have sold them on here... i cannot recall where they went
here is the catch ..
those octavia mikes are often pirated chinese knock offs ptrettending to be octavia
which is kinda ironic seeing octavias are soviet knock off in the first place ..
there are a bunch of "how can you tell the difference threads " on the web
check them out before you by the real deal is my advice

I remember in the early 2000's getting a mate to grab me a pair of these, they were selling em for 99 bucks, or two for 99 bucks back then...
They are good microphones, for sure. I sold em years back. Before the whole chinese thing rared its head...

$99 buck ones ...
yes well they were the fakes ! ( looked identical )
all the ones sold for about three years were fakes i seem to recall..
wether the guitar center ( usa ) were the culprits or the rubes stuck with the dud stock is not clear to me
but as i said good mics .. but do your homework

It's a long time since I've bothered to look at the fake Oktava issue on the www and it's possible the Chinese changed their original knock-off design BUT the difference between the knock-off and the genuine 012 was originally fairly easy to pick........provided you had read the available info.
If I remember correctly, the (exclusive) UK Oktava distributor at the time was initially behind the Chinese copies, the rest of the saga is a foggy memory.
What I do know is that I have a genuine pair which were sourced and closely matched for me by a friend in the US a while before the knock-offs surfaced. Love them as o/heads and on overly bright acoustic guitars.

If anyone is interested I have a genuine Oktava MA-52 dual ribbon mic in it's original case with Russian manual and frequency response printout that I don't need. Perfect condition, I bought it directly from the Australian importer in 2003, it is a genuine Russian mic. I bought it when they were new to Australia and rather expensive. If anyone wants one to use or to hotrod drop me a PM and we can work out a price. The fakes used a Chinese single ribbon motor.
