Alternatively, which of these new cheapies would you think is 'best' ?

- AT2020
- MXL V67 or 990
- Samson
- be!@#$%^&
- CAD
- iSK

Just used a be!@#$%^& B2 on the weekend and was actually impressed, very useful for a cheapie and multipattern etc. Don't get the iSK I bought two to cannibalise for the body and the capsule build is very poor (wrinkles, tarnished etc).

Generally I've been happy with the AT mics and the CAD mics are generally decent but I doubt the others would be any good...

I have a MXL V67 that has been upgrade with better parts. You know those big blocky Red things. Apparently it was used on "The Voice" in the studio on some of their Artists for a CD compilation.
Paid $150 from the producer in Melbourne but doesnt get used now I have a U87.
Yours for $100 includes delivery.
Can take pics if that helps.
Cheers

Thanks for the offer Dale
Looks like I've got it sorted though, Mike is kindly sending down an AT2020, thanks all!

Ps, such a better community thing going on here than on GS, just sayin
