Hey Matt,

I think I have an ilok with HD7 floating around somewhere if you want it. It can't be synced to an ilok account (or upgraded as a result).

You can still buy HD8 via the avid store - its actually HD7 with a free upgrade to HD8. Costs $250.

Yeah, its not to bad.

Upgrading to higher versions is expensive though. $1500 to upgrade to HD10. Plus another $600 if you want to upgrade to HD11. As a comparison, there are chaps on US ebay selling unregistered HD11 licenses (which include HD10) for $1650.

Keep in mind that HD9, HD10 and probably HD11 licenses cannot be transferred. If you buy one second hand, double check that it is unregistered. If the sale is literally just an ilok, you most likely won't be able to sync it to your ilok account or upgrade it in the future. You will also be screwed if the ilok dies.

Nope. Avid canned upgrades to HD9 when they released HD10.
HD7 & HD8 can only be upgraded to HD10 for $2500 or $1500 respectively.

Bastards, eh? Buying one of those HD10/HD11 licenses of US ebay is a better option in that case as its under $1700 (gulp!).

man that is shit!

to be honest I'm more annoyed at the person that sold me a PT9 license and didn't send it.
