These guitars were only made for a short time, as a result they are quite sought after - it is pretty much impossible to find a baritone of this quality for under $2-3k. These instruments were designed by Joe Veillette & Michael Tobias for Alvarez (google Joe's work if you don't know him).

Yes it's the same guitar Ani DiFranco plays. This is the USA made instrument, they also did a cheaper Korean version ("Avante" AV-2)… this is definitely the superior instrument.

There is some play wear… I'm not going to photograph or catalogue every mark or scratch, but it is in very good to excellent condition overall. It is supplied with a good hard case.

I had the guitar thoroughly tweaked and set up by Josh Owen at The Acoustic Centre a couple of years ago - he did an outstanding job, the guitar plays beautifully with a good low action but still plenty of tone. It is definitely one of the easier to play baritone acoustics I have used, to be honest I usually forget that it is a baritone until I switch back to a standard guitar.

The current strings are D'addario EXPs, they are a couple years old but I haven't played it that much and they are still in good nick. However I'll throw in a restring and setup, or you can haggle over the price and have it set up by your own guy to your own specs - your call.

One of the big surprises with this instrument is the quality of the pickup… it sounds really, really good through an amp (and presumably a DI), especially with a bit of delay. It also looks pretty damn cool, and certainly stands out from the crowd with that unmistakeable Joe Veillette signature shape.

I do love this guitar - it has opened up a whole new world for me - but for various reasons I'm not able to play much anymore so I think it needs to find a new home.

Considering it's relative rarity and condition, the asking price of $1250 (including free setup and new strings) seems pretty fair to me. Will ship at buyer's expense, or pick up in Melbourne. Come try it out if you're local.

Giving this a bump... but also adding that I'm up for trades if anyone is interested but short on cash.

Especially interested in any half decent compressors (mono or stereo), synths and keyboards.
