Wtb: Hardware Midi Arpeggiator

I want to buy that Neve too but...

For now I'm after a hardware midi arpeggiator.
Something that I can stick on either the midi input or the output of an MPC4000 (it doesn't have arpeggio function)
Rack unit might be ok, but not a big workstation, or software.

I was about to grab the MidiPal, looks perfect but has no chord repeat function which would be nice.
Not a dealbreaker though.

A few options that come to mind other than the Cyclone.

- Midibox V4 sequencer - DIY. It has the best arpeggiator IMHO. (Among 1000 other things it's capable of)

- Mutable instruments MidiPal - tiny. It's a great MIDI tool too. - Has arpeggiator as one of it's modes.

I think I'd have to agree.
There are things out there, mostly old and clunky or too diy.
The MidiPal looks ok though, small and simple.
I think I'll just go for that if no-one comes rushing forward with something else...

I wasn't aware of it's existence. Shame its currently out of stock - it would fit right in here with my hardware set up.
Ideally, it should have two separate midi INs, one for clock, one for everything else. Otherwise you need a separate midi merger box. I wonder how it copes with busy midi streams? Anyone here use this?

Couldn't agree more about the 2 inputs, the other thing it doesn't do is chord repeat, but they seemed keen on adding it into the chip or whatever it is.
Back in stock in a week they reckon...

I've read thru the forum, can't see that anyone has raised the idea of a second, prioritised, midi in anywhere, surprisingly.
Probably would require both hardware and software modification so may not be trivial...

Did I mention the ear training game?
I use mine for a inline synced start stop or a midi filter for my vintage midi gear that gets upset if it gets sent odd midi messages.

But in all honesty, MB SEQ kills all for sheer power and versatility .

So I bought a midipal.
Ridiculously good fun! Runs off a 9 volt battery, so compact I sit it up above the wheels of my master keys.
Makes even a fairly dull synth like my Ultraproteus jump out at you with inspiration.
Arpeggiator, sequencer, chord memory are all instant gratification.
Midi delay with velocity is also actually pretty cool - I thought it would be something I wouldn't waste time on, but s'funny how much fun the simple things can be...
