WTB: 4.1 build mac pro NOT WORKING

here is a weird one
i have a 4.1 mac pro with a faulty backplane
thats right… logic board and cores are all totally fine (i have taken out and tested in another machine)
so the expensive part of the computer is good to go

to replace the backplane is next to impossible (and expensive)
but if anyone has a DEAD 4.1 build mac (dead logic board/ processors/ PSU/ anything) thats all i need..
basically just the shell (and the circuit board that is in it)
and all my working bits can slot in and work again..

but if someone has it ill pay decent money
i only ask cause i have a 3.1 shell here - cause i saved it for exactly these kind of reasons… but now I'm onto 4.1 machines and i can't use that one.

make someone some easy money for something they never thought they would use again..

have you spoken to apple about getting them to replace the backplane?... i had it done recently and it didn't cost as much as you might think

i got the quote… it was 600$
which for a 1200 computer (market price) is not something id spend

id rather buy another machine and have a spare CPU

or find a dead logic board machine (much more common) and drop my working one in it..

that's odd... i had my backplane replaced and some other stuff as well... and it was around $450

interesting.. where was that?
i don't use apple centres (after some terrible experiences over the years. once LOSING a computer, once returning the wrong machine, and one brand new laptop returned three times before i insisted on a new machine)
but if the pricing is that low id consider it..

i got a bottom of the range quad core 4.1 on ebay for 800 bucks delivered
ill pull my top specced processor board out of the dead machine and whip it in
along with the extra ram
and gives me an extra hard drive
and spare video card
and for that matter a spare "emergency" (low specced) processor.

will have my 3.1 build machine up for sale shortly
