Installation or distribution cable

Hi anybody know where I can source the standard grey cable for doing huge runs like what is used in broadcast facilities on patchbays? I have about 30m of odd lengths of the stuff from the uni where I used to work and trying to find some that is matching for a 96 bantam pb. I have tried the usual - altronics and jaycar with no success. They have similar stuff but it's not shielded and too thick.

BTW if anybody could post their pics of rear closeups of their bantam pb that would be greatly appreciated. I have'nt done one before but I am pretty good with an iron, and know about all the pb conventions so I am confident I can do the job with just a bit of guidance and a few ideas.

For cables I recommend either Canare L2B2AT (3.1mm OD 24AWG) or if you want thicker, (and for AES/EBU) Canare DA202AT (4.0mm OD). Canare cable is available from Amber Technology.
The stuff your thinking of is probably Belden 8761 (4.5mm 22AWG), available from Madison Technologies. Its more difficult to work with, the L2B2AT is easier to use.

Thanks for the info. I am doing this this on a tight budget so which do you think would be most affordable?

Probably the Belden, I think it goes for about $1.10 per metre. You'll have to call around. (Madison Tech, Bayview Tech etc.) You may even find some on ebay. Be prepared to buy a roll length though. (163 metres).

Try getting in touch with Hartland Cables, a division of CMI.
My guitar tech guru uses this cables for all his desk repair jobs, patchbays and the likes.
Its code is HCK 601 and is about $80 per 100m roll (not sure if you need that much tho).
Its 3 conductor cables, 7 strands of 0.20mm copper - conductors and drain wire are all the same size.
