Sound Skulptor MP566 '500 Series' DIY Valve Micpre

I just put together one of these...

I had an old Mullard 12AT7/ECC81 which I used in place of the supplied valve.

There is an onboard DC/DC convertor that produces 225V for the valve.

Also has a nice DI input.

Still testing but so far I think it sounds pretty darn good!

Nowhere near as 'woolly' as the UA610 MK2.

Well I liked it enough to order a second one!

The MP566 looks similar in execution to the La Chappell 583s MKII which uses a 12AX7 instead of the 12AT7.

I plan on trying a 12AX7 in the second unit which will have more gain and hopefully some extra mojo.

Might also play with a few different transformers.

The MP566 seems to fit nicely in between the UA610 MKII (woolly) and the Sebatron Axis 200VU (clean)
