Hey Guys,

I play records (dj) in a shop around town every now and again... i've been wanting to use there in house system (a hifi surround sound amp - wired to a speaker switcher which then feeds sattelite speakers all around the store (it is a very large shop) as it sounds quite alright and the speakers evenly disperse the sound

they have connected a very long (20 + meter) rca cable to an amp input.

It works when i connect the rca output of my dj mixer however the sound is very soft and the amp cut's out quite often...

I am sure that this is because the unbalanced line is too long.

I was wondering if the best way to fix it for them (on the cheap) would be to place a cheapo 2 channel be!@#$%^& di at the dj console end and run balanced cables from it to the amp where i would have another di situated.

My question is - can a di work backwards - ie balanced signal (from dj mixer) to unbalanced input (line input on amp)?
