Acoustic treatment for home studio

Hi everyone,

I've gotten so carried away with the gear that I've ignored the equal asset - the room! My studio walls are thick, double brick on each side - typical terrace builds of yester-year.

Can anybody point me in the direction of some reasonably cheap, but very effective acoustic panels? I will thinking about building some broadband type panels to go on the front wall behind the monitors: wooden frame, rockwool filled with polycover & cloth over the top.

I'm renting so cannot go nuts with drilling into the brick. But....

If anyone can add suggestions of ready-made acoustic panels that are not overly expensive please point away!

I've just done this and although not COMPLETELY finished, I could snap some pics for you to have a look at.
I used Auralex products (there are others out there) and the small amount of treatment I have done to my mix room has made a HUGE difference in early reflections and taming echos.
I have not yet treated for low end (thats next) but I dont want a completely dead room either.
I'll see what I can snap on the digital cam tonight if you like..
I got my Auralex from Major Music @ Miranda - the prices had come down with the $AU going up, but I presume that now the dollar is around .85 their prices might have changed, but possibly not.
Give them a call if you like - ask for Wayne or Anthony.

Interested to see those pics, I've been onto Major Music's site and there are so many options with Auralex - keen to know what you went with in the end. Like you say, a small amount will probably make a massive difference.

here's a link from the Auralex site which might give you an idea of what you need for your room, it's a bit of a sales ploy, but it might give you some insight
it asks for your name & email address but if you dont want to be hassled just put a fake email address in :)

I snapped 2 quick pics just now - hope this helps.
There is no bass freq treatment at the moment - a few LENRDS will go in later..
Even just this amount of treatment has a major impact..
