Hey everyone,

I don't usually post too many of my DIY exploits on forums in case it's construed as advertising or something, but I'm really happy with how this one turned out and I think you guys would like the aesthetic. It's a channel strip I was commisioned to built for my good friend Michael Carpenter, who I'm sure a lot of you guys know.

Mic pre is JLM's baby animal (with 99V and OEP trafo), compressor is JLM mac (with 99V's) and the EQ is the gyraf G pultec (with lundahl iron). Thanks for the great stuff, Joe!! I'll try to get guts shots up soon too, as it's pretty tight in there!!

its not enough

a guy i know in the states builds beautiful ( and i mean beautiful as in $10 k + ) acoustic guitars
one day he realised it was nuts because he actually started out doing it to build his own guitars for himself !
and all his amazing ones only hung around long enough for the laquer to dry before they were gone from his life

now he prices all woods and parts X 2 and quotes with that factored in for each commission he takes
and so he builds two of every super commision he gets and keeps one for himself

now his problem is how to turn down the $$$ offers to buy his spare personal guitars
..tough problem to have !

I have built so many beautiful things that other people now have instead of me , sometimes i wonder if my own advice is something i should listen to more often !

When I was poor as hell last year I didn't get to build anything for myself, but lots for other people. This year with my current employment situation it's been great to not only built a few things for myself again, but also to take on some more interesting/enjoyable projects like this one for MC.

Would be good to see the guts. There's a lot to stuff in there.

Cool idea with the front panel patching Nick. Also good fix for the power supplies. Your mojo just keeps getting better.

Are they Joe's power supplies? They're great, super quiet.... how did you do the front panel lettering? Departure from Lasertran?

Yep, Joes PSUs. No noise issues. I manually moved the power transformers around a bit before committing to a position for quietest operation.

The panel is laser marked by a local trophy shop. Very durable!

The knobs are from Sato parts USA

Are the inductors for the pultec Panasonic? They don't look like the Toko type ones.

Ben I'm not sure what brand the inductors are, but they're the ones from WES components in Ashfield.
