This looks pretty cool - MIT appear to be offering a completely free university-level course on Circuits and Electronics.

You have to enrol, complete assignments on time and take a mid-term and final exam. You even get a certificate.

IT appears to be completely free. If there is a catch, I haven't been able to figure out what it is.

Hey Manning, this is not new. UNSW computing lecturer Richard Buckland does similar courses, with a forum available for tutorial groups, taking students for introductory computer course using Arduino as the breadboard for all the learning concepts.

It's something excellent which exists due to teachers with a true passion for teaching and something we need to see more of imo.

I might take this up, hopefully i have enough time for it!

Actually, should mention that UNSW, and other uni's especially in the US actually films all lectures, for alot (?) of subjects and upload on youtube for students to watch if they miss a lecture...
BUt its also great for people interested in the subject.

I've done calculus and linear algebra but... um... it was a while back. Let's see what I remember... area of a circle = Pi times the square on the hypotenuse plus a constant.

as far as i know, introductory electronics doesnt require too much hardcore maths, later on u would.

EDIT, just read the entry on that course in detail, u need to do some kind of Physics Primer which is offered on the same site i think. OR you can audit the course (read and listen to lectures and see the problems) without being assessed.
