Resistors

Sorry, another beginner question.

My "key" for understanding resistor values doesn't tell me what a gold band as the third band equals. There's nothing to tell me how many zero's gold should be!

I've just looked at the package inclusions, and I seem to be missing some.. and my powers of deduction tells me that the third gold band probably means putting a decimal point between the first two values... so red-red-gold-gold would be a 2.2ohm resistor with a 5% tolerance.... I think.

Confirmation? Correction?

Dave.

Hi Dave

You got it!

Gold can mean a 5% tolerance OR a multiplier of 0.1, depending on whether it is the last, or second last, band respectively.

For the full table, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_color_code

thanks Chris. I should have googled! :)

Second pedal coming together... bass fuzz this time - and making my first PCB.

Awesome... I'm really looking at pedals simply because they're so straight-forward and seem to me to be a good learning tool. I can try a few different things out, hear the results, and not have to delve into complex circuitry to change things.. that is a great site, and I'm sure I'll be adding one or two of those kits to my collection of modified pedals.
