I have a Berhinger ada8000 that I use to drive a set of VUs predominantly, and its clocked off my RME UCX via adat.

The thing has been slowly dying, the sync light would dim, as its just driving VU meters, I really didn't care, till it stopped working all together.

I ripped it out of the rack pulled the top off, and noticed three caps around the regulators were bulging, I ordered the caps from element14 about 3pm, they arrived the next day!!!! 20 mins later the caps are replaced, and the thing is back in the rack working perfectly.

Its a good feeling when you make it work again, let alone the fact it saved me a bucket load of money to come up wit a replacement..

One of the three that I have to feed my HDD recorder has stopped working, I was unsure whether to fix it or just bin it and buy another. I might rip the top off it and look for anything odd, then admit to myself I have no idea and throw it in the bin...

When you fix a stuffed piece of gear of your own and you plug it in and it works again, you understand what man must have felt like when he first discovered how to make fire.

Learning some basic electronics, and how to solder properly has saved me thousands of dollars over the years. And yes its also incredibly satisfying - makes me feel like a proper survivalist!

I disagree, when you fix it and it shorts out internally and melts the transformer windings, THEN, you know what it feels like to make fire......................

I sometimes enjoy fixing gear more than using the gear.. Shocking!
Just got some light at the end of the tunnel for my second Arp Quadra.. Can anything have more stuff wrong with it than this guy..
