What's everyone using to clean their bantam jacks with these days?

I should have been less vague when I wrote that post this morning on the way out.

I've pulled out some old brass tipped ADC TT patch leads that I thought I might put back into action.
Some look grubbier than others but they do look a bit blackened and haven't put them into my patchbays to test yet...
What do you think? Should I just push these grubby leads in and out of my nice clean patchbays a few times and test them... or should I try to wipe them down first with some Deoxit gold wipes or even brasso them? (probably not recommended...)

Toothpaste, will work on brass pretty well.

No... don't use Brasso

Well Ben, I'll let you in on a secret... you'll need to take a walk down to your local newsagent or Officeworks and invest in a white pencil eraser. This will solve your problem.

Rub the the brass with the eraser and that should remove any build up of oxidization without damaging the brass.

I would then brush off any residual rubber, followed by a wipe over with a lint free cloth dampened with isopropyl.

Avoid using any oil based cleaners.
