I'm not sure I'd get a lot of work done in there! These sort of set-ups look wonderful, but it's hard to know how ergonomic they really are..

and it runs through be!@#$%^& gear!?

I'm serious when I say that's the last kind of setup I'd want, looks hellish to be honest.

...and what they don't show you is the guy going up and down a step ladder just to get a patch made, yeah well if that's your desired workflow, better you than me.

Going by the photo, it looks like you've got to sit on the floor to play the synths and get on a ladder to patch the modular.

I'm sure being that's their desired setup, they do not care. They could have just a couple of synths and a computer but that would defeat their intent, no? You don't build a wall of analogue monsters for "ease of workflow"...

Yes, obviously. I'm aware a modular is not user friendly at the best of times but I was just saying, I can't understand why you would want said modular wall physically higher than your head, hardly useable like that. No?

My point was, it looks more like one guys over the top collection rather than a well laid out practical setup (and that's coming from me, a big synth nut)

Yahh true! Perhaps it's not one dude at all, but a team of midgets who form a stack when high-reaching is required?
Personal studio-patching midgets... now THAT would come in handy (as politically incorrect as it might be). At 6ft 8" I'd appreciate it just for the lower plugs... my back hates me.

Off-topic, did you find that Roland mixer you were after? There was one for sale on Craig's List Canada, but thought the shipping would make it not worth it? I think it was listed at 150 CAN.

Yes! I'm stoked to have found one in NSW as they seem to be very scarce, I'm just starting to get my rack gear together and this mixer will be ideal to let me use all of my synths at once - will be a good day when that happens, has been a very long time coming.

Cheers for the heads up though, I'm glad there's a great place like this - everyone looks out for each other (unlike some international forums I wont name).

Nice one! What synths/effects do you have? Only hardware I have at the mo' is a Juno-106 and an RE-201. Would really like to add some more reverbs and delays to my rack, and ALWAYS wanting to add more synths...

Synths I have are mostly vintage, and a lot of Roland gear - too many to list here but if you want I'll send you a PM if you're still interested.

Yeah, I have a RE-201 too, has something wrong with it though, the reverb works but the delay doesn't pass sound. Damn thing is so heavy it'd cost me $100 each way to get it serviced somewhere decent where they know what they're doing - still hoping to find a local guru to help me out with it.

Effects-wise, going to have two dedicated FX racks with all sorts of stuff that I've already got like Electrix Mo-Fx, Orban 111B etc. Not top of the line gear but still very useable. I did come to the conclusion a long time ago though that the less be!@#$%^& gear I have, the better - that philosophy has worked out well.

Yeah PM me, always interested to hear what old synths people are packing and their opinions on each's usability.

That sucks about your Space Echo, have you considered asking Steve Jones (Thirteen on here) if he knows of a tech more in your neighbourhood? Or perhaps a general post asking everybody? It's so worth it - I just got new tapes for mine and set it up in my template on Ableton to have it ready at all times, I love it so!
